Frequently asked questions

Relo Insurance not only offers comprehensive insurance so that your goods are covered for any damage that occurs, but we are experienced specialists in moving.

We’ll guide you with advice on your packing to help prevent damage from occurring. This is something the other insurance companies cannot offer like we can.

You should fill in an inventory list of all your items and the value. If you don’t have this list, please contact your coordinator and they’ll provide it for you.

If you do not wish to create an inventory list, your items will be insured at a value of €2500 per cubic meter, at a maximum total value of €200,000.

You should complete your inventory list as soon as possible, but we need it at very latest before your packing starts for your goods to be covered by insurance.

Any items that are high value, such as jewelry, artwork, or precious metals should be discussed with your Relo Insurance coordinator before you submit your inventory in advance of the move. We will determine if they can be insured or not based on the item.

Live plants, groceries and other kinds of perishables cannot be insured. Jewelry, money and valued documents need insured separately and will be charged at a different premium level.

Damages resulting from mold & mildew, insects,inherent vice and normal wear & tear are excluded for coverage, unless these damages were a result of an event that is covered by this insurance

With the Relo Insurance Package, you can also insure these possessions. The value for insurance must be determined by you, based on actual value of the vehicle at destination.

Please bear in mind that, in case the insured value is unreasonably low, any possible repair charges will be reimbursed pro rata. To be absolutely sure you may also declare the new value of the vehicle and at the same time benefit from a 0,25% lower premium.

Insurance is limited to transportation for which Voerman International is directly responsible. This implies that insurance commences upon receipt of the vehicle by Voerman or by the officially appointed agent and ends at the time of handover of the vehicle at destination.

Upon receipt, Voerman (or the Voerman agent) will issue a condition report, indicating all visible damages,substantiated by photographs that need to accompany the report. This condition report will again serve as a receipt at
destination, on which the condition at time of receipt will be compared and noted.

Usually the car will be insured as having been used, which means that normal wear and tear as well as minor dents cannot be claimed as transportation damage. In case of total loss of the car, reimbursement will be based on actual day value of the vehicle.

The value of your items will be determined as follows:

1. Based on the total value as declared by you via the special application form
or
2. At a value of € 2.500,- per cubic meter volume (only possible up to maximum
€200.000,-)

In both cases you do need to specify all items, with an individual value of more than € 1.000, – on the attached list.

Important to note:
The value always needs to cover the replacement value* in the country of destination, which requires some further investigation. If, in case of damage, it appears that your goods are under insured, the reimbursement will adjusted downwards accordingly.

* The term replacement value stands for the amount, required to re-obtain items of a similar kind, quality, quantity, condition and age.

It is advisable to insure the removal costs as well, which covers the investment in your household and covers the charges for shipping items that, in case of total loss, should they need replaced from the home country.

1. All-Risks insurance coverage your household goods and personal effects, from door-to-door, with a global legality.
(Certificate and policy conditions available upon request).
2. No restrictions as to the means of transportation
3. Contrary to many other insurance policies The Relo Insurance Package, without exception, covers each minor scratch or dent that could possibly occur during the move.
4. In case of involuntarily interim storage while in transit, the goods are automatically insured for a maximum period of 60 days. Extension of the insurance during a longer storage period means a minor additional premium.
5. Damage to electric, electronic or mechanical parts is also covered, provided it can be proven that the damages occurred during transportation.
6. In case of damage to a matching set, an extra compensation can be offered for depreciation of the value of the entire set.
7. The removal costs provided the insurance application form clearly shows these costs to be insured. In case of a total loss of the household, the removal costs will be reimbursed in full. In case of a partial damage, reimbursement
of transportation costs will only be made when the necessity of replacement from the country of origin has been made acceptable. Furthermore, reimbursement is limited to a maximum of 110% of the insured replacement value.

In case of unforeseen and involuntarily storage of your goods during the moving process, the transportation insurance is extended to a maximum of 60 days of storage at no extra premium.

In case the storage period exceeds these 60 days, there will be a monthly charge. In case of storage at your own request, the monthly charge will immediately be applicable.

Extension of the insurance is only possible when the goods are stored in a warehouse which is approved by Voerman International.

Attention: You are responsible that we are notified about the required extension by mail via mail@voerman.com or by fax via +31 (0)70 – 320 8804. Always ask for a written confirmation that the insurance has been extended by us.
